Description:
Andrew Micallef (b. 1969) studied fine art and graphic design at the Targa Gap School of Arts and Crafts. He works in acrylics as well as oils and pen and ink. Since his first solo exhibition in 1986, he has held 14 solo shows and participated in numerous collective exhibitions. Micallef has also been commissioned to design and illustrate several stamp sets depicting flora, fauna, fruits, domestic animals, and historic buildings, along with other educational materials and publications related to nature. His preferred themes include nature, especially birds, along with landscapes, seascapes, and architectural details. Working in a style of realistic impressionism, he seeks to capture the richness of the Maltese natural and cultural environment.
