Description:

Born in 1982 in Gozo, Victor Agius was introduced to sculpture at an early age through his father, the sculptor Mario Agius. He graduated from the University of Malta's Fine Art Department in 2004 and later continued his artistic training abroad, studying at the International School of Painting, Drawing and Sculpture in Perugia in 2009 and at Central Saint Martins in London in 2011. His work has been exhibited widely in Malta, including at the National Museum of Fine Arts and the St James Cavalier Centre for Creativity in Valletta, as well as in culturally significant public sites such as the UNESCO World Heritage Ggantija Temples and the Mdina Cathedral. Agius has also taken part in international exhibitions, among them Spazio Pastificio Cerere in Rome, Galleria San Eufemia in Venice, Arte Padova, the Long Room Gallery at Oxford University, the Florence Biennale, and the Museum of Modern Art in Santo Domingo. In 2014 he represented Malta at the European Ceramic Context in Bornholm, and his public art proposal Hagarna was recently selected in a national competition.
