Richard Saliba (b. 1943) studied at the School of Art in Valletta between 1960 and 1965, under the direction of Chev. Vincent Apap. He continued his artistic education at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Perugia from 1975 to 1980, where he studied drawing and painting under Bruno Orfei and Romeo Mancini, and pursued etching and engraving with Diego Donati. In 1982, he further specialized in etching and aquatint at the Istituto Statale d'Arte in Urbino. Active since the early 1960s, Saliba has participated regularly in collective exhibitions in Malta and abroad and has held numerous solo shows in Malta, Russia, Switzerland, and France. His work reflects a refined balance of technical mastery and expressive sensitivity, shaped by his deep engagement with classical traditions and his enduring exploration of the Maltese landscape and human form.
