Description:
Her love for ceramics started at a young age. Under Gabriel Caruana she obtained an A level in ceramics which led to a scholarship at the Accademia di Belle Arti, Perugia. She is influenced by Gabriel's bright colours, obtaining hues by glazing layers upon layers, taking colours from nature, especially sea life. She mainly hand-builds structural works. Mariz also sculptures figures which are made into bronze. She strives to achieve movement for which the clay lends itself. She has exhibited in numerous collective exhibitions and the enjoyment of creating is her motivation.
