Raymond Dominic Agius was born in Zejtun, Malta, in 1955. At 23, after completing a six-year contract in the British shipyards, he emigrated to Australia, later becoming an Australian citizen. There, he trained as a draughtsman, advanced to engineer, and ultimately became an automotive designer for General Motors Holden. Over three decades, he contributed to many iconic Australian automobiles, including the redesign of the fifth-generation American Chevrolet Camaro, and led the Experimental Body Design Department in Melbourne. Art has always been central to Agius.s life. He wrote books, short stories, and graphic novels, while painting evolved from a hobby into a second profession. After retiring in 2007, he returned to Malta to focus fully on his art. Raymond shares that as an engineer, he created out of necessity, as a car designer he worked within technical constraints, but as an artist, "I create from within my soul, being fulfilled only by what my mind, heart and hand alone decide." His work appears in exhibitions, charity events, and local art publications. In 2014, he became an American citizen, broadening his international perspective.
