Published: December 13, 2025 9:51 am Born in 1948 in Hamrun, Malta, he studied under Carmel Mangion at the State School of Art (1967-1972). Early training in steelwork, sheet metal, and welding became a foundation for his sculptural sensibility, merging craft and imagination. After years abroad in Sweden and England, he returned to Malta, teaching technical arts while continuing to explore his artistic voice. Since 1994, he has worked as a freelance artist, primarily in acrylics, often layering mixed media to expand the possibilities of paint. His work moves effortlessly between surreal, prismatic, and abstract forms, guided by mood and concept. Environmental consciousness runs through his art, particularly in his experimental use of recycled materials, plastic bottles, metal, wood, and broken mannequins, transforming the discarded into visual poetry. He has exhibited widely, from England to China, and in 2003 he was awarded first place in the Installation Section of the Malta International Biennale.
