Description:

Anthony was born in St. Georges Street, behind St. Georges Church in Qormi (1948) but lives in San Gwann. For the first six years, his grandfather and grandmother lived with him and his family. His grandfather, keen on classical and decorative art, carried him to different chapels and St George Parish Church while explaining the classical and decorative work there. Together they used to go to Qormi Valley behind the Church and draw the trees and the spring flowers there.
Anthony kept a keen interest in drawing and reading about art in his teenage years while living in Hamrun. At the early teenage years, he was sent to The Archbishop’s Seminary, Floriana. While his schoolmates in his spare time, played football, Anthony with others stayed in class, drawing.
While also as an early teenager, he studied art at the Government School of Art (Drawing and Sculpture), in Valletta, later at St. Joseph Technical (Ceramic) School, M.C.A.S.T. Ceramic School (Targa-Cap), and later at the Academy 'Pietro Vannucci' in Perugia, Italy. In his twenties, Anthony was part of the Young Artists Group, but later he was a keen member of the Teens and Twenties Talent Trust and set up the 4Ts Art Group. This group started setting up collective exhibitions with many varieties of help from prominent people in Malta. Later Anthony won the Bronze Medal, the International Postal Union Art Competition in Lugano, Switzerland.  In 1986, he won another Bronze Medal in the same competition in Rome, Italy. As a painter, ceramist, and designer, he has held solo exhibitions, some of which were held at Don Bosco Institute (Gozo), German Maltese Circle (Valletta), Sta Margarita Chapel (San Gwann), Gran Hotel Corinthian (San Anton, Balzan), Archaeological Museum (Valletta), Mediterranean Centre (Valletta), National Museum of Fine Art (Valletta). His works can be found in numerous Maltese households, National Hospitals, the National Fine Art Museum, German Maltese Circle, Heritage and restaurants all over the Island. He has also exhibited works in London, San Francisco, New York, Lugano, Helsinki, and Perugia.
