Description:
Raymond Darmanin was born in Kalkara in 1962. He began his studies independently at a very young age and later studied at the Malta School of Art in Msida and Valletta and at the Art and Design Center in Valletta. He attended other courses at the Academy of Fine Arts Pietro Vannacci Perugia, Italy a well as a long-term course at the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence. Searching for a personal language during his studies in Florence helped him a great measure to focus on various genres such as the human figure in motion and the symbolic still life. Among his works is 'Our Daily Bread', which was exhibited in Light in The Dark, one of his first solo exhibitions held in 1993 in Valletta.
The occasional return to certain subjects proved to be both challenging and deeply rewarding.
